13-Year-Old Punjab Boy Drowns in Tangri River at Haryana-Punjab Border

A minor boy from Punjab drowned in Tangri river in Ambala on Friday. The deceased was identified as Manveer (13), a resident of Ahru Khurd. He was a student of Class VII.

A minor boy from Punjab drowned in Tangri river in Ambala on Friday. The deceased was identified as Manveer (13), a resident of Ahru Khurd. He was a student of Class VII.

As per the information received, five boys from Aheru Khurd village of Punjab were watching the flow of water in Tangri river at Bhuni village of Ambala at the Haryana-Punjab border when two of them slipped and the others tried to help. Three drowned while two were rescued.

Soon after receiving the information, local residents and teams of SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) and Naggal Police station reached the spot. A rescue operation was launched, however, the heavy flow of water posed challenges. Later, Manveer’s body was recovered from the river.

The matter was quickly reached out to the police and Naggal SHO sub-inspector Karambir Singh explained that while the incident occurred, three boys were in the water. After launching the rescue operations, the authorities were only able to save two. There have been recovered the dead body of third one.

“Information was received that three boys have drowned. While two were rescued in time, one drowned. A rescue operation was launched. The body has been recovered and will be handed over to family after post-mortem,” SHO Naggal Police station.

About Tangri River

The Tangri River as well is known as Dangri River. It is in the Haryana state of India, originating from the Shivalik Hills of Himachal Pradesh. This flows along the border of Haryana and Punjab. The River is a tributary of both; Ghaggar and Markanda River.
