The Gen Z group has called for the immediate arrest of former Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. They are accused of involvement in a tragic shootout that killed 19 people during anti-government protests on September 8.

The Press Conference was held on Friday at Sambad Dabali. Dr Nicholas Bhusal, advisor to Gen-Z, stated that the National Assembly should be dissolved and the constitution amended to allow for the direct election of an executive Prime Minister. He also demanded the formation of a high-level commission to investigate the wealth of all high-ranking leaders and government officials since 1990.

He insisted that Oli, Lekhak, and Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Chabbi Rijal are directly responsible for the incident. He urged for the formation of a high-level commission to investigate their wealth.

The protests began following bans on social media and alleged corruption within the government. Despite former Prime Minister Oli’s denial of involvement, claiming infiltrators caused the violence, the Gen Z activists continue their demand for accountability.

At the event, other speakers including Gen-Z advisors Kushlav KC, Khemraj Saud, Khojraj Katuwal, Nipesh Dhaka Adhikari, Dr Sundar Thapa and scientist Kapil Paudel, emphasized that only a directly elected executive system could lead the country toward development. They also stressed the need for free education and healthcare, as well as the creation of employment opportunities within the country.

Activist Kushlav KC stated that he has long been advocating in the streets for cooperative victims and asserted that the next government must address their demands.
