Unfortunately, before the fire crew arrived to extinguish the fire, they were too late as the car had already burned to the ground.

On the Phagwara-Jalandhar GT Road on Sunday, panic broke out when a car caught on fire while driving over the flyover, eventually becoming engulfed by flames within just minutes. Unfortunately, before the fire crew arrived to extinguish the fire, they were too late as the car had already burned to the ground.

According to Fire Officer Nitin Shingari, the Fire Department received a call regarding a vehicle fire occurring on the Phagwara Flyover and a truck was dispatched immediately to the location.

Based on the initial report, it appears that a family traveling from Khanna to Jalandhar saw smoke coming from under their car while on the flyover and after they pulled off to the shoulder, their car rapidly became engulfed in flames.

Fortunately, the occupants were able to exit the vehicle before the flames destroyed everything inside of it. All members of the family are reported to be safe according to police officials.

The fire crew extinguished the flames after arriving on scene, but the SUV was a total loss by that time. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
