An attorney brought up the matter and stated that IndiGo has experienced numerous flight cancellations recently, causing distress to passengers.
“The cancellations are not communicated to the passengers,” he stated, noting that approximately 2,500 flights are postponed and travelers are experiencing difficulties at 95 airports nationwide.
According to sources, Monday saw over 250 flights operated by IndiGo at Delhi and Bengaluru airports being suspended due to ongoing disruption to the airline’s operational activities for a period exceeding seven days.
Out of those 250 cancelled flights, 134 were at DEL, where 75 were scheduled departures and 59 were scheduled arrivals; 117 were at BLR, where 65 were scheduled arrivals and 62 were scheduled departures.
IndiGo has come under fire for cancelling over 400 flights on or after 2 December 2012 due to changes in the regulations concerning Pilots’ Flight Duty Times. The cancellations have caused significant delays to many flight schedules, leaving significant numbers of people to experience delays and cancellations.
In total, over 200,000 persons have had their travel plans disrupted.
