Attempt to Save Toll Ends in Tragedy: Brother Dies, Sister Injured in Yamunanagar

A brother died and his sister was injured after their car fell into a pond in Yamunanagar while taking a road to avoid toll charges.

A routine return journey from an exam turned tragic on Thursday when a car carrying a brother and sister went off a village road and fell into a pond in Yamunanagar district of Haryana.

The accident occurred around noon near Kanadi Khurd village, close to the Milk Majra toll plaza. The victims were identified as Himanshu and his sister Tanya, residents of Professor Colony.

Himanshu had taken his sister to Zirakpur for her examination earlier in the day. While returning, he took a narrow village road to avoid the toll plaza. Locals said the road was uneven and risky.

As the car moved ahead, another vehicle came from the opposite direction. While trying to pass through the narrow stretch, the driver lost control and the car slipped off the road into a nearby pond.

Hearing cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot. With the help of ropes and a tractor, they pulled the car out of the pond and broke the windows to rescue the occupants.

Both were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared Himanshu dead. Tanya sustained serious facial and dental injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Police reached the spot soon after and took the vehicle into custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
