Alaska Summit ends without Ukraine ceasefire deal between Trump and Putin

While at the Alaska Summit 2025, Trump claimed that the progress was made on many of the points. However, there had been no deal between them. Continuing his remarks, Trump added his stance on reducing casualties in Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin on August 15, 2025 had a presidential meeting in Alaska under the name “Alaska Summit.” The meeting took place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska.

This high stake meeting aimed at negotiating a deal to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. However, the idea failed. Both the Presidents reportedly had a meeting of about three hours to discuss the matter but the discussions did not reach any agreement or ceasefire.

“There’s no deal until there’s a deal,” stressed President Trump.

While at the summit, Trump claimed that the progress was made on many of the points. However, there had been no deal between them. Continuing his remarks, Trump added his stance on reducing casualties in Ukraine.

“We’re going to stop 5000, 6000, 7000 people a week from being killed, and President Putin wants to see that as much as I do,” said Trump.

Trump further hinted at his next plans to brief NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the matter.

President Putin’s Stake on Russia- Ukraine War

While at the high stake presidential meeting held between the President of the U.S. and Russia on the matter of Russia-Ukraine war, the Russian President Putin casted light on how Trump could have played the role in war prevention, if he had been the U.S President then.

“Today, when President Trump says had he been the President back then, there would have been no war, and I am quite sure it would indeed be so,” claimed Putin.

Continuing his words, Putin added that in 2022, the situation started taking a worsening turn, there had been a meeting with the previous administration. He tried to convince that the situation should not be brought to the point of no return.

Following it, the President invited Trump to Moscow for further meetings. This symbolizes the progress in the matter which possibly can take a positive turn towards fostering peace and harmony around the world.
