Canada Proposes New Visa Rules Allowing Mass Cancellations Over Fraud Concerns

All these authorities will have the authority to revoke or deny the issuance of any temporary visa at any moment.

Indians residing in Canada, particularly those on temporary visas, might face hardships once more.

According to a CBC report, the Canadian government is pursuing new authorities to revoke groups of temporary visas, known as mass visa cancellation, mainly due to suspected fraud in applications from India and Bangladesh. Therefore, the new Canada Visa Regulations 2025 could result in the revocation of Visas for Indians.

According to reports, this legislation presented in the Canadian Parliament seeks to empower Canadian officials to mandate the deportation of any Indian immigrant possessing a temporary visa at any point. Moreover, the agency must possess the authority to prevent the granting of any temporary visa.

Canadian authorities have collaborated with U.S. organizations to detect and dismiss fraudulent visitor visa requests from India and Bangladesh.

This legislation is important for various reasons. If this legislation is approved in Parliament, it is expected to adversely affect Indians. This legislation from Canada is notable as it arises when 74 percent of visa requests from Indian students have been denied by Canada.

As per the proposal, the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Department of Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, and US officials will collaborate.

All these authorities will have the authority to revoke or deny the issuance of any temporary visa at any moment.

According to reports, over 300 civil society organizations have voiced their apprehensions regarding this legislation. These groups claim that denying large-scale applications will enable the government to create a mass deportation system.

Reports indicate that the government is looking for the authority to deny large applications in order to alleviate its increasing application workload.
