Types of Malnutrition
There are following four types of malnutrition:
- Undernutrition: It is a nutrition condition in which body lacks the vital nutrition and nutrient content. An undernutrition body doesn’t function accurate on absorption of food. In such case body either become obese or or undernourished.
- Overnutrition: In this condition body has more than required amount of nutrients and also starts accumulating alot of body fat which eventually leads to obesity or overweight body.
- Micronutrient Deficiency: The micronutrition deficiency cause iron deficit problems in body such as aneamia because of lack of vitamins responsible for iron.
- Micronutrition Deficiency: It is usually caused when a person is on high amount of vitamin A. Also in this case, the source of vitamin is unhealthy.
Triggers of Malnutrition in India

- Poverty: Areas in India that hits the poverty line are paid very low for their work which eventually leads to malnutrition due to poor diet which has inappropriate quality and quantity.
- No Healthcare Facilities: Lack in basic healthcare amenities and regular checkups. No social help factors are included from governmental side.
- No awareness: The uneducated poor sectors are not well aware of child rearing which leads to malnutrition of a child that too from the time of birth.
Treatment of Malnutrition
- The officials from government should take visits to slum areas or poverty areas.
- Should record the needs and fulfill it.
- There are many schemes that are already in action towards this problem and should initiatiate awareness towards the malnutrition.
