Six districts including Jalandhar Ban Liquor- Meat Sales for 48 Hours Ahead of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Martyrdom Day

The Punjab Government is marking the occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. To observe the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Punjab Government is improvising various cultural programs, light show, etc.

Millions of devotees are anticipated to come to Sri Anandpur Sahib to receive blessings on the occasion of 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. On this auspicious occasion, the Bhagwant Mann Government will also conducting a special assembly session in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

In consideration of religious sentiments, several district administrations in several districts of Punjab have declared a dry day and prohibition of meat sales of the Nagar Kirtan Routes in Jalandhar.

Sale of liquor and meat prohibited in Jalandhar for 48 hours

Amaninder Kaur, Additional District Magistrate, has prohibited the sale of meat and alcohol along the Nagar Kirtan route on November 21 and 22, 2025, in Jalandhar, under the authority of Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

In the other five Punjab districts, the sale of liquor and meat will also be prohibited. This comes after the announcement to close liquor and meat shops as well in five other Punjab districts, as ‘Nagar Kirtan’ is being celebrated on the 350th martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The district administrations of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur all announced ‘Dry Day’ in their areas between November 20 and 22.

As a result of this under those dates, the administration has also ordered to keep liquor, meat, egg, and tobacco shops closed for those routes.
