As per the reports, nearly 200 E-Challans have been issued per day and over 7000 fines have been imposed.

To constantly observe and manage the traffic in the city, Jalandhar E-Challan system has started imposing penalties on violators. For those who do not know, Jalandhar is the second city of Punjab to have a working E-Challan system.
E-Challan system in Jalandhar was made functional at 4 chowks of the city (PAP Chowk, BSF Chowk, BMC Chowk and Guru Nanak Mission Chowk) on October 12 after weeks of trial runs following its September 29 inauguration.
Previously, Jalandhar E-Challan was primarily geared towards traffic violations related to running the red light. To be precise, any person caught on camera for red light aberration in the said areas, received a ticket via the Jalandhar E-Challan system.
At present, the traffic police are now observing another traffic rule infringements very keenly in Jalandhar.
In accordance with ADCP (Operations & Security) Vineet Kumar, besides the red light jumpers, another category of offenders, that is, motorists who drive on the wrong side of the road are also fined. The reason is that, as per ADCP Vineet Kumar, wrong-sided vehicles in traffic usually cause congestion so, offenders are punished for this as well.
The ADCP additionally informed that, through the average measurements, nearly 200 E-Challans have been issued per day and over 7000 fines have been imposed to date. 10 E-Challans are issued on a daily basis against wrong-side motorists.
Despite this, it has been observed that people are becoming more disciplined in their driving.
Traffic lights which are not functioning are the main complaints from local people in Jalandhar. Also, of the 13 chowks, only 4 are using the E-Challan system.
