Family Member of WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Detained by ICE, Faces Deportation

According to a representative from Homeland Security, Bruna Caroline Ferreira entered the US legally on a tourist visa which expired in June 1999.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement have arrested a family member of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Bruna Caroline Ferreira, the mother of Leavitt’s 11-year-old nephew, has been arrested and is at risk of being deported to Brazil.

Bruna was previously in a relationship with Michael Leavitt, the brother of the press secretary from New Hampshire. The pair had a son prior to their separation. Sources indicate that Bruna and Karoline have not communicated for many years.

“The child has resided permanently in New Hampshire with his father since birth.” The source stated that he has never lived with his mother.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security stated that Bruna Caroline Ferreira is a “criminal illegal alien from Brazil” who remained in the U.S. after her tourist visa expired in June 1999.

“She has a past arrest for battery…” “According to the DHS spokesperson, under President Trump and Secretary (Kristi) Noem, everyone unlawfully in the US can be deported.” The press secretary of the White House has, nonetheless, chosen not to provide any remarks on the issue.

According to a representative from Homeland Security, Bruna Caroline Ferreira entered the US legally on a tourist visa which expired in June 1999. Her spouse, Grazielo dos Santos Rodrigues, began a GoFundMe campaign for $30,000 to support her in opposing deportation efforts against her. This campaign has raised approximately $14,000 to date.

Bruna’s attorney, Todd Pomerleau, stated that Bruna originally came to the US through DACA (Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals). It allows immigrant minors to avoid removal from the US. Bruna is currently applying for a green card.
