As per the directive of Anil Vij, the Haryana Transport Minister, the Transport Department has been directed to conduct an investigation into the finances of the person who has bid the highest amount of Rs 1.17 crore for a special vehicle registration number.

The bidder who had won the HR 88 B 8888 in an online auction failed to pay the bid amount, and as a result, he lost his security deposit and the department had to carry out a reauction.

Vij, who is expressing his discontent over the incident, remarked that participation in an auction is not an informal matter, but a serious commitment, and then he further added that “bidding in an auction is a responsibility and not a hobby”.

In addition, he specified that the department will look into the bidder’s financial capability and the funds’ source as the bidder abandoned the deal after proposing a large amount.

A directive has been made to the Transport Department to seek the Income Tax Department’s assistance in conducting a thorough investigation.
