Husband Dies After Poll-Day Clash, SAD’s Jaskaran Kaur wins Zila Parishad Seat

Husband Jagsir Singh Balluana, an Akali Jathedar, passed away after an argument over an election slip in Balluana village on poll day.

SAD’s candidate Jaskaran Kaur for the Diwana Zila Parishad, whose husband Jagsir Singh Balluana, an Akali Jathedar, passed away after an argument over an election slip in Balluana village on polling day Sunday, secured victory by 4,143 votes on Wednesday.

SAD leaders asserted that Jagsir’s blood pressure spiked during the confrontation, leading to an unexpected heart attack that resulted in his death.

SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and his spouse, Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, were present at Jagsir’s cremation on Monday and called for justice for the family. The police, on the other hand, stated that they had not received any complaint

Candidate Jaskaran Kaur won the seat by 4,143 votes. She secured 9016 votes, Congress candidate Rajveer Kaur got 4873 votes and AAP candidate Rajwinder Kaur received 4554 votes.

A total of 19,042 votes were polled, of which 18,545 were found valid. A total of 102 votes were polled for none of the above (NOTA).
