Mohali Court Orders Removal of AI Deepfake Video of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

Right-wing trolls are sharing an AI deepfake video of the chief minister of Punjab. The court has ordered that this phony film be taken off, according to an AAP post.

An AI-generated deepfake video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was ordered to be taken down from the internet by a Mohali court, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Thursday.

Right-wing trolls are sharing an AI deepfake video of the chief minister of Punjab. The court has ordered that this phony film be taken off, according to an AAP post.

In order to maintain the integrity of the evidence, the court ordered Facebook and Google to delete all objectionable content and keep track of any associated documents on October 22.

Jagman Samra, a Canadian, was arrested by the Punjab State Crime Police on October 21 for posting “vulgar, unlawful” content intended to incite animosity amongst various communities after the social media post sparked a lot of rumors.

According to the police, the “Jagman Samra” Facebook account posted numerous messages with the intentional purpose to sow dissension and disturb Punjabi public peace.

According to the official complaint, “the content is vulgar, unlawful, and has the potential to incite hatred, enmity, or ill-will among groups of people.” The social media monitoring cell found the post.

Inspector Gaganpreet Singh’s report prompted the Punjab State Crime Police Station to register a case on October 21 under Sections 340(2), 352(1), 353(2), 351(2), 336(4), and 67 of the IPC and the IT Act.
