Participants in the protest mentioned that Congress candidate Surinder Kaur received more votes than any other candidate in Village Narur

Congress party activists on Wednesday staged a protest on the Phagwara–Nakodar Road against vote counting irregularities that took place during the Sahni Zone-4 Block Samiti election. The Congress party accused the Aam Aadmi Party of manipulating the vote count so the victory of their candidate can be ensured.
Participants in the protest mentioned that Congress candidate Surinder Kaur received more votes than any other candidate in Village Narur.
A recount was ordered after Surinder Kaur’s initial victory was announced. Subsequently, AAP candidate Rajinder Kaur was said to have won. Leaders of the Congress accused the AAP of using fake signatures to file for the recount and that the process was unfair.
Congress members staged a sit-in and blocked the Nakodar Road for approximately fifteen minutes creating a temporary interruption to traffic. However, it returned to normal once the road was reopened.
Subsequent to the Nakodar Road protest, protestors gathered outside the Counting Center at Ramgarhia Institute in Phagwara and chanted anti-Aam Aadmi Party chants as the counting was conducted.
According to Punjab Police, the subject of the protest were achieved peacefully, the protest was under control, and the counting process remained in place.
