Travel Agent Cheats Kapurthala Youth of ₹13.5 Lakh with Spain Job Promise

A report about a possible immigration fraud involving a travel agent has come from Kapurthala district, where a young boy was said to have been deceived of Rs 13.50 lakh by a travel agent who instead of doing so, made a promise to send him to Spain.

After the complaint was made by the victim’s father, police have filed a cheating case against the travel agent. The travel agent has not been arrested yet.

In a complaint, Gurdev Singh, who lives in village Kheda Dona in Kapurthala, mentioned that he was looking to send his son Tarnveer Singh Kheda to a foreign job. He contacted Happy Khanna, a village Talwandi Madho, a resident in the Shahkot area of Jalandhar district, and to the latter, he introduced himself as a travel agent.

The said person assured that he had arranged the jet flights for many travelers to different places and even directly assured them of sending Tarnveer to Spain.

As per the information provided by the authority, a preliminary inquiry was done on the base of the complaint and, during that period, the accusations were determined to be confirmed. After that, an FIR was filed against Happy Khanna.

The police have stated that the procedure to locate the suspect is already under process, and further decisions will depend entirely on the results of the probe.

The officials have instructed people to be extra careful while dealing with travel agents and encouraged them to authenticate their credentials before proceeding with any monetary transactions.
