According to the police, the shooting took place near alcohol outlet, which is located in the area near gold mines.

Police on Sunday said that at least 10 people were killed and another 10 were injured when gunmen shot in a town near Johannesburg. This is the second mass shooting reported in South Africa in December.

The shooting happened in Bekkersdal, located approximately 40 km (25 miles) south west of Johannesburg. Police have not yet determined what motivated the shooter’s actions, nor do they know who they are. It is reported that several victims were randomly shot on the streets.

According to the police, the shooting took place near alcohol outlet, which is located within an area having numerous gold mines. The injured victims were taken to medical facilities for treatment.

This shooting occurred just days after an earlier attack on December 6, where 12 people were killed, including a 3-year-old child, while visiting a communal home (hostel) near Pretoria.

Authorities reported that the location where this incident occurred was illegally selling alcohol and the investigation into this matter remains ongoing.
