23-Year-Old from Jalandhar Rural Found in Pakistan After Two Months Missing

Satnam Singh, a labourer, said, “Our son had gone somewhere with another youth on November 2. While the other youth returned, Sharandeep did not come back.

Sharandeep Singh, a 23-year-old resident of Bhoepur village, Shahkot, who has been missing for about two months, is said to have crossed the India-Pakistan border and been taken into custody within Pakistan’s border area in the Kasur District.

On Wednesday, Pakistan released a picture of Sharandeep Singh along with members of the Pakistan Rangers. Details surrounding the incident that resulted in his crossing into Pakistan remain unknown.

Satnam Singh stated that he had filed a report to the police regarding his son being missing, and that an FIR was already filed against him for which he had been imprisoned at Kapurthala Jail.

He went missing a few days after being released on bail.

“Sharandeep’s father told that his son left home without any information on November 2. However, he reported the matter to us on November 7. He was facing a case of petty fight,” said SSP Jalandhar Rural Harwinder S Virk.

Satnam Singh, a labourer, said, “Our son had gone somewhere with another youth on November 2. While the other youth returned, Sharandeep did not come back.

We repeatedly asked their friend for information about our son’s location, but he provided only that they went to Khemkaran, from which Sharandeep did not return. He had done wrestling for ten years.

The police arrested him due to a quarrel with a group of boys. He sustained an injury to a hand roughly 1.5 years ago, and since that time, he became addicted to drugs. We learned of his arrest via reports on social media. “We will comply with any instructions the government provides for our son’s release.”

The family reported that BSF teams had come to their home a few days prior and inquired about their son’s location. The family and the police stated they were not aware of how Sharandeep crossed the border. Teams from the Intelligence Bureau areMonitoring closely, they stated.

Sharandeep faced deportation twice from overseas previously (first from Japan in 2021 and later from Greece). His older brother Karamvir is also in the US, where he traveled using the Dunki route.

DIG, BSF, Northern Frontiers, Kanwaljit Singh stated that proper protocols would be adhered to when addressing Sharandeep’s case with the Pakistani officials. “Up to now, we have received no official information from them,” he stated.
