President Droupadi Murmu visits Jalandhar to attend NIT’s 21st convocation. Traffic advisory issued with heavy vehicle restrictions on key routes.

Indian President Droupadi Murmu is in the city today (January 16, 2026). The president will be an honourable guest at NIT, Jalandhar’s 21st convocation ceremony.
Noticing this, the Jalandhar Police have released a traffic advisory for heavy vehicles. The communication of heavy vehicles will be prohibited on all of the routes listed below:
- Lambra
- Cantt
- Jandhu Singha
- Pathankot Byepass
- Kartarpur
- Bhogpur
- Adampur
President Murmu to award degrees at NITs 21st Convocation Ceremony
The President is currently in a two-day visit to Punjab. She will be an esteemed guest at the 21st Convocation Ceremony of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) organized in Jalandhar.
The President Murmu will be the chief and will give degrees to 1,452 meritorious students of the institute. According to reports, among these graduates, 31 students will be awarded a gold medal for their high-achieving academic performance.
