14 Year old dies after collapsing during Football Match in Abohar

Police said the preliminary cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack, though the exact reason will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.

A 14 year old football player died after collapsing suddenly while playing in a match at Dharangwala village in Abohar on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Jasmeet, a resident of Alamwala village in Malout. The incident occurred during the opening match of a football tournament organised by the Maharishi Valmiki Sports Club.

According to eyewitnesses, Jasmeet collapsed on the ground immediately after kicking the ball. Players and organisers rushed to help and took him to a nearby private clinic, from where he was referred to the government hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Jasmeet was the youngest and only brother of three sisters. His father works as a labourer in the village.

Police said the preliminary cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack, though the exact reason will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.

ASI Gurmeet Singh of Sadar police station is investigating the case. The body has been kept at the government hospital for post-mortem.
