16 year old Goraya boy suspected for Desecration at Jalandhar Gurudwara

The torn ‘angs’ (pages) of Ayat and the Guru Granth Sahib were discovered at Gurdwara Shri Guru nanak Darbar.

An occurrence of disrespecting Shri Guru Granth Sahib has been noted in the Mahal village at Goraya.

The torn ‘angs’ (pages) of Ayat and the Guru Granth Sahib were discovered at Gurdwara Shri Guru nanak Darbar. Witnesses claimed the pages were found both inside and outside the gurdwara.

The Phillaur police has detained a minor boy, discovered to be accompany of and responsible for the incident that occurred. The incident happened around 6 pm on Tuesday. Sources from the villagers, who have been to the gurdwara visiting at 5 pm on that Tuesday, that there was no inappropriate or negative presence and everything had been good.

An hour later, the news circulated in the village about the ‘angs’ of the Guru Granth Sahib discovered on the gurdwara premise. Furthermore, the representatives of Sikh organizations stood outside the gurdwara in protest for the incident. Although the police informed on Tuesday that the CCTVs installed by the gurdwara management were both inside and outside the gurdwara were not working on Tuesday, the police arrested the minor after they verified independent footage from outside the gurdwara.

The police on Tuesday said that the CCTVs installed by the gurdwara management both inside and outside the gurdwara had been out of order on Tuesday. However, the police arrested the minor only after checking footage from an independent camera placed outside the gurdwara. The cops further stated that the occurrence may also be associated with a quarrel between two groups on the administration of the gurdwara.

DSP, Phillaur Bharat Masih declared that, “Three angs of Guru Granth Sahib were discovered at the gurdwara. The CCTV footage acquired from the outside of the gurdwara showed a 16-year-old boy throwing the pages of the Guru Granth Sahib at the entrance of the gurdwara. He is a villager and is studying in Class X. The full investigation is ongoing to know the reason behind his actions. The village was furthermore embroiled in a dispute concerning the election of gurdwara committee head forming it. All these are the points being examined.”
