The deceased has been identified as Ekam, a resident of Kanwla village in Ambala district. The body was retrieved near Jyotisar Head by diver Pargat Singh and later handed over to the police.

The body of a six-year-old boy was recovered from the Narwana branch of the Bhakra Canal in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district on Thursday, while his mother and elder sister remain missing.
The deceased has been identified as Ekam, a resident of Kanwla village in Ambala district. The body was retrieved near Jyotisar Head by diver Pargat Singh and later handed over to the police.
According to the police, Ekam had been missing since January 23 along with his mother, Meena Devi (35), and his eight-year-old sister, Divya. The trio had reportedly left their house in the morning without informing anyone.
Rohit Singh, the boy’s uncle, told the police that Ekam’s father, Ravi Kumar, had died around two months ago. After his death, Meena Devi allegedly left the house with the children. Rohit said he last saw them leaving on the morning of January 23, assuming they were going to the market. When they did not return and Meena Devi’s phone was found switched off, the family began searching for them.
After failing to trace them, a missing person complaint was registered with the police in Ambala.
Diver Pargat Singh said he received information from locals about a child’s body floating in the canal. The clothes worn by the boy matched the description and photographs circulated earlier on social media regarding the missing child.
The family later confirmed the identity of the body as Ekam. Since the missing person report was registered in Ambala, the body was handed over to the Ambala police for further investigation.
Police said efforts are ongoing to trace the missing woman and her daughter.
