The reports claim that an accident occurred near Unchi Bassi, around 50 km from Hoshiarpur, the bus was enroute to Jammu from Delhi. The bus reportedly was carrying 46 passengers.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Dasuya Police Station, Mohinder Singh added that traffic had been diverted to a one-way stretch as the bridge near Unchi Bassi has slightly sunk and repair work was ongoing.
The truck reportedly rammed into the bus. Passengers in the bus were asleep while the collision occurred. Locals and a police team went to the spot and rescued the injured, who were shifted to the civil hospital in Dasuya, he added.
After nearly three hours of effort, the bus driver, who was trapped inside the mangled vehicle, was pulled, police said.
