Jalandhar: Over 50 Liquor Cases seized in West Constituency Raid, Accused Held

Officials stated that the raid occurred after a secret tip regarding illegal liquor stored at a residence in Nakha Wale Bagh, Madhuban Colony.

A combined team from the Police and Excise Department conducted a raid at a residence in the city’s West constituency and seized a significant amount of alcohol, resulting in the arrest of an individual named Rajinder Kumar, also known as Raju Chauhan, during the operation.

Officials stated that the raid occurred after a secret tip regarding illegal liquor stored at a residence in Nakha Wale Bagh, Madhuban Colony. Acting on this lead, the police and excise team arrived at the location and conducted a search.

While conducting the search, over 50 cases of liquor were discovered within the house, and high-ranking officials, including the SP, ACP, and SHO, were present alongside the Excise Department team during the operation. ACP Atish Bhatia stated that the suspect was reportedly utilizing the residential property for unlawful liquor activities and verified that approximately 50 to 60 cases of alcohol were seized, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Authorities mentioned that prior cases have been filed against the suspect, and these are now under review as part of the investigation. The Municipal Corporation team was alerted after discovering the house’s misuse, prompting a site visit and building inspection.

During the raid, several items were seized from individuals at the scene based on suspicion, including four gas cylinders.
