A case of lost jewellery from a bank locker at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Mai Hira Gate has emerged, raising worries among customers and bank personnel.

According to the complaint, a local resident named Jatinder Chadda, residing in Sat Nagar, reported that gold jewellery weighing approximately 6 to 7 tolas has disappeared from his locker, which allegedly contained a necklace, earrings (jhumkas), a tikka, and additional items, with an estimated value of around INR 10 lakh.

Jatinder Chadda stated that the jewellery had initially belonged to his family and was gifted to his wife by his mother in 2000. Following his mother’s passing in 2005, the family resolved to secure the ornaments in a bank locker, and subsequently, in 2007, the jewellery was placed in Locker No. 336 at the Punjab National Bank branch.

He mentioned that the locker had been accessed occasionally throughout the years without problems; according to him, the jewellery was still in the locker during a visit on April 13 this year.

Bank officials, on the other hand, stated that the matter is under review and that the case has been reported to higher authorities. They also noted that there are no CCTV cameras installed directly in the locker area, which is anticipated to be a significant aspect of the investigation.
