India Rolls Out FASTag Annual Pass: 200 Toll Crossings for INR 3000

As per the regulations enforced by authorities, the pass will cost INR 3000 as a one time annual fee. It reportedly allows 200 toll crossings in a year. There has been set an eligibility for the vehicles under this. Only private and non- commercial vehicles including cars, jeeps and vans are permitted.

India on August 15, 2025 marked its 79th independence and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) have introduced the FASTag annual pass. The action has been taken in collaboration with NHAI (National Highways Authority of India).

This annual pass will allow the travelers to complete their journeys having reduced hassle, time and costs linked with highway travel.

As per the regulations enforced by authorities, the pass will cost INR 3000 as a one time annual fee. It reportedly allows 200 toll crossings in a year. There has been set an eligibility for the vehicles under this. Only private and non- commercial vehicles including cars, jeeps and vans are permitted.

It is only valid for the toll plazas on National Highways, including Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai-Nashilk Highway, and Mumbai-Surat Highway. This is not valid for the state highway local toll booths and parking areas. It reportedly is applicable on about 1150 toll plazas.

How to activate the FASTag Annual Pass?

An activation of the FASTag Annual Pass can be done through official websites of NHAI and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The pass can also be availed using the Rajmargyatra app. The ministry has stated that the pass will automatically get activated within 2 hours after it is registered, the amount is paid.

Here is the simple guide to get the pass. Follow the given steps and it will be done.

  • Download Rajmargyatra App
  • At the homepage, click Annual Pass
  • Click on “Pre book” and get directed through “Get started”
  • Check the eligibility by entering registered vehicle number
  • Verify it by entering OTP
  • Make the payment via debit/credit or net banking

After the procedure is complete, it will be activated within 2 hours. Significantly, it will require a few of the documents which are; RC (Vehicle Registration Certificate), Passport size photo of an owner, KYC documents and valid ID and address proof.

Users report payment issue and helpline failures

The FASTag annual pass has been successfully implemented, there has  been nearly 1.4 lakh activations in just a day. However, users are reporting issues regarding payment. While taking the matter to ‘X’ account, people have expressed their experience.

One of the netizens provided the proof by adding the series of photos as evidence, and wrote “I purchased an Annual FASTag Pass today for Rs 3000. The amount has been debited from my account, but the pass is not updating in my dashboard yet.”

This is not just the case of a single person, however several are reporting the same glitch. People as well are mentioning that even the helpline numbers provided for support are not working.
