Torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorms hit Jalandhar in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday (August 31 and September 1, 2025). The city had its heaviest rainfall of the season.
The extremely heavy rain reportedly began around 2 am and submerged large parts of the city within an hour. Major destruction is reported as in many areas, roads are not only blocked with waterlogging, as well are due to the fallen trees.

Model Town had a major hit after such rainfall. Sources reveal that near Mata Rani Chowk, at least 2 to 3 feet of rainwater entered the showrooms storing phones and speakers in its basement halls. All those items were seen floating in the water.
This has caused a major loss in crores. Several of the buildings also had the severe hit, where the parking areas and basements were seen completely filled with water.
DC Himanshu Aggarwal’s Stance
While taking the matter to ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter, Jalandhar’s DC Himanshu Aggarwal shared the glimpses from several of the areas where sanitation is underway with the areas where rainwater is collected.
As well, he released a contact number 9646-222-555 for the public to share any flood related information. Adding to it, a relief centre has been opened at Nakodar’s high school where all the necessary services are being provided.
