Punjab Flood Crisis: AAP Announces One-Month Salary Donation

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) announced that all the MLAs and MPs of AAP will donate their one month’s salary to Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Such an announcement has been made so that amount can be used to provide help to flood victims. While sharing a post on ‘X’ formerly known as twitter account, Kejriwal delivered the message.

In his message, he called on all the political parties and the central government to extend support to the flood affected state, Punjab. In the address, Kejriwal called this action humanitarian.

“It is the time to move above political action, lets serve for the people, show humanity,” said convener Kejriwal.

Damage and Relief Operations


According to the reports, more than 100 of villages across Punjab from various districts including Gurdaspur, Ferozpur, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, and Barnala.

Official records state that the death toll due to the conditions has risen to 30 and approximately 2.56 lakh people have directly been impacted. Whilst, in Ferozepur district, around 45,000 individuals have been affected.

Punjab Floods have also claimed the loss of over 3 lakh acres in the affected areas. Damage to livestock and homes have not been assessed as floodwaters have not moved in several areas.

Rescue and relief operations are underway. Sources reveal that 15,688 people have been rescued from submerged villages. A total of 129 relief camps have been set up to provide shelter to over 7100 people.

Multiple agencies including 20 teams of the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), 10 of Indian Army and Air Force, and the BSF are working in providing assistance in the rescue efforts.

Hundreds of relief camps are in operation which are continuously providing basic necessity commodities including food, water, medicines to the flood victims.
