India’s GST 2.0 aims to Hit Hardships, Support Healthcare (H2)

With all the discussions concluded at 56th GST Council Meeting, India is all set to welcome GST 2.0 on September 22, 2025. This will introduce a simplified two-slab tax structure of 5% and 18%.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has called it a double dose of support. He mentioned, this aims at making daily use items cheaper and boosting the economy. Under this, there have been announced a major change as 33 life saving drugs, including those for cancer and chronic diseases, will now be tax-free. Taxes on medical devices, test kits, and health insurance will also drop from 12% to 5%, making healthcare more affordable for millions of families.

Punjab Floods: Widespread Devastation and Disruption

Massive Flooding is being witnessed in Punjab under which 23 districts of Punjab, India have been affected. Such has come after the releases from Pong, Ranjit Sagar, and Bhakhra Dams. The Punjab Floods 2025 are being seen as the state’s worst hit in the past 40 years.

There has been major loss recorded as over 1400 villages have submerged, much of the crop land has been vanished. The conditions have affected more than 3 million people.

Meanwhile, the water levels in the Yamuna region have crossed the danger mark. This has severely affected the areas including Delhi, Noida, Agra, and Prayagraj.

In neighboring North Indian regions, the Yamuna River has breached danger levels, causing severe flooding in Delhi, Noida, Agra, and Prayagraj.
