Matcha has been a trend these days more than a beverage which makes it crucial to know, What Actually The Matcha Is? 

Matcha in its origin is a tea powder or can also be known as the green tea powder. It is not the regular green tea but is made from shadegrown tea leaves. Matcha comes with a lot of benefits but it is necessary to know both the pros and cons before making it part of a meal. 

How much Matcha is good to take?

It is always said that anything consumed over required quantity harms, so it is very important to know the right amount to consume matcha. The right amount is consuming it not more than twice a day as the matcha caffeine can cause various problems. 

Pros of Matcha

  • Improves Metabolism: Increased metabolic activity is directly proportional to Matcha consumption. Matcha contains some good bacteria that is good for gut health and boosts the metabolism which results in betterment of digestion. 
  • Prevent Heart Strokes: Including matcha in every day diet decreases the risk  of heart stroke. It is rich in antioxidants that help the immune system work better and maintain the cells of the body. 
  • Controls Bad Cholesterol: The LDL or low density lipid (cholesterol) is considered the bad cholesterol which can harm the body and leads to the severe conditions of fatty liver. The matcha can result as the super tea to control such mishaps. 
  • Detoxification: Matcha is one of the best known beverages to detoxify the body. The right amount of Matcha helps the body to remove the harmful products from the body and flush the toxins out. 
  • Brightens the Skin: Drinking matcha helps reduce dirt and toxins from the skin cells which helps brighten the skin and give a flawless touch to it. The anti-inflammatory compounds contained in matcha improves the skin in the best form. 

Cons of Matcha

As nothing comes without cons, Matcha too has its disadvantages like:

  • Upsets the Stomach: Consuming matcha more than 70 mg a day can lead to gastrointestinal issues and worsen the stomach. Matcha caffeine is the main compound that irritates the intestine. 
  • Insomnia: The caffeine of matcha is totally different to the caffeine present in coffee and other carbonated drinks. In some cases, the matcha does not resist , it leads to insomnia and can even be a cause of stress led by insomnia. 
  • Iron Absorption Reduction: The non-heme iron is present in plants and matcha contains compounds named catechins which can reduce the iron absorption in a body of an individual. The person who is anaemic should not drink matcha, neither less nor more. They should avoid it to the best extent possible.
