Indigestion is an abdominal problem associated with bloating and gasiness. It is a very discomforting condition. Indigestion causes burning sensation and even pain in the chest and abdominal area. 

The early signs of Indigestion includes:

  • Nausea
  • Discomfort direct after having meal
  • Vomits
  • Sharp Pain in Upper Abdomen
  • Burning sensation etc. 

Indigestion is often caused by dietary changes or sedentary lifestyle. There are two types of Indigestion namely:

  • Organic Indigestion: It is caused by medical conditions. It occurs naturally with no linkage of diet and lifestyle. Various problems leads to organic indigestion like Reflux disease, Gallstones, Peptic ulcers, Gastrointestinal problems
  • Functional Indigestion: This type of indigestion is the result of sedentary lifestyle and junk diet. It has no linkage with any other physical problem. It can give rise to problems like Decreased metabolism, Obesity, Constipation, Ulcers, Liver infection.

Quick Step Intervention of Indigestion

Indigestion directly or indirectly in both ways is related to diet. Untreated indigestion can cause nutritional deficiency. Slowly and steadily it will take human immunity to zero.

There are various Do’s and Dont’s to keep in mind about the food habits of a person like:

  • Eat less: Overeating gives rise to acid flow. It’s very important to stay within limits while consuming food. Another habit associated with eating is drinking. One must not drink water in between meals because it dilutes the food. Drink water 30 mins before or after the meal,also one should avoid taking any food for four hours as it takes four hours to digest the meal completely ,it will help control indigestion as it stabilizes the metabolism and reduces the probability of indigestion. 
  • Perform Core Exercises: A human body needs a good amount of workout everyday. Performing core exercises that put the stomach as the core element reduces the risk of gastrointestinal problems which will eventually prohibit indigestion. Two must perform asanas include:
  1. Naukasana: This is an excellent workout option to promote better abdominal function. It put pressure on the stomach and spine both. 
  2. Pavanmuktasana: This asana is named with two words pavan and mukta. pavan means air and mukta means release. This asana helps release the bad air quality from the body. This also is an abdominal pressure asana. These asanas promote overall well being and avoid indigestion.
