Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann on Saturday addressed the media from his Chandigarh residence. While addressing, he noted that major operations are being carried out by the state government to cope with the aftermath of floods.
He added that in all 2300 flood affected villages of Punjab, a cleanliness campaign has been initiated. He added, the authorities have granted INR 100 crore for this under will INR 1 Lakh will be granted to each village or area.
Additionally, JCB, Tractor and Labour will be arranged by the government. He as well has stated that the expectation for its completion is October 15 so normality can be pursued further.
Punjab Govt. establishes Medical Camps
While briefing to the media, CM Mann noted that in all the flood affected villages, there will be medical camps established to avoid the spread of chronic diseases. He mentioned that this facility will be available for 24 hours.
Continuing with his words, he said, there are already AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) Clinics established in 596 villages. And, in all these, all the medical related facilities will be availed. In 1707 villages, in all the community places, including schools, colleges, the medical facility will be available 24 hrs.
And, under this, there as well will be provided 550 ambulances which all the time will be available in the affected areas to provide service.
While casting light on the livestock, CM highlighted that in every affected area, veterinary teams have been sent so 2.5 Lakh Cows, Horses, Goats or other pet animals can be treated.
He added, all the debris or other substances that can spread infection in livestock. Adding to it, all the farmers will be provided with potassium permanganite for the water purity. The vaccination programme as well has already started. The deadline for this has been declared as September 30, 2025.
Infrastructural Disaster under Maintenance
The aftermath of the flood has destroyed many government buildings, electricity towers, grids, and transformers. In simple words, it has caused much of the infrastructural disaster. CM Mann reflected that the workings on these have already been started.
Moreover, Mann stated that the authorities have made all the necessary arrangements in the market for the procurement of paddy. He further mentioned that all the markets which got affected by the floods will be repaired and made suitable by September 19.
