Two men accused of opening fire at Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly succumbed to injuries following a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Wednesday, reports state.

The two accused, identified as Ravindra who is son of Kallu, a resident of Rohtak, and Arun, S/O Rajendra, a resident of Sonipat, were reportedly linked to the Goldy Brar-Rohit Godara Gang. Both suspects were injured during the encounter and succumbed to injuries at the hospital. 

What is the Case about?

The case stems from a shooting in the early hours of September 12, when gunshots were fired at Disha Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area. The incident occurred at around 3:45 AM when the house was occupied by the actor’s family, including her Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani, her mother and elder sister Khusboo Patani.

Shortly after the incident, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, known for his deep ties to organised crime networks, claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post. He alleged that the attack was carried out over Khushboo Patani’s remarks against spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj.

Moreover, Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF) and the Crime Intelligence Unit of Delhi led the search operation. While this, the teams encountered the suspects in Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the suspects opened fire on the team. In exchange, both men sustained serious injuries during the encounter. They were disarmed and rushed to the hospital, where they succumbed to injuries.

From the site of the encounter, the police recovered a Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, and multiple live cartridges.
