Balkaur Singh, father of Punjabi Singer Sidhumoosewala in a public gathering announced his decision to contest Punjab Assembly Elections.
Journalist Akashdeep Thind while taking this to his ‘X’ formerly known as twitter account mentioned, “While addressing the gathering in Mansa Sidhu Moosewala father Balkaur Singh announces to contest a Punjab Assembly Election.”

He notably will contest as a candidate from Indian National Congress.
Earlier as well, at the third death ceremony of Sidhu Moosewala, he casted light on this stating that he plans to contest the 2027 State Assembly Elections from the Mansa Constituency.
While he expressed his plan to contest, Balkaur Singh highlighted the dissatisfaction with the Bhagwant Mann led administration. He expressed this in the context of lack of actions against Gangsters.
It has already been three years since Moosewala’s death and the family is waiting for justice for their son’s murder. But, there has been no sign of such coming from the authorities’ side.
Casting light on such, he revealed disappointment towards the government, and has said that his entry to politics will have a major focus on seeking justice and strengthening public safety.
Notably, Soidhu Moosewala had contested Assembly Elections in 2022 in the month of February, and had lost it by huge margin. After two months from this, in May 2022, he was shot dead at Jawarhke village in Mansa.
