Four individuals, including Khalistani agents, have been charged by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly participating in a grenade attack against the home of former Punjab minister Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar, officials announced on Sunday.

Two arrested suspects; Saidul Ameen of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, and Abhijot Jangra of Kurukshetra, Haryana, as well as two absconders; Kulbir Singh Sidhu of Yamunanagar and Manish, also known as Kaka Rana, of Karnal, both from Haryana were named in the chargesheet submitted to a Chandigarh court on Saturday.

On the evening of April 7, 2025, the former minister and BJP leader’s property was attacked. A few days later, on April 12, the investigation was taken over by the NIA.

According to an NIA statement, Sidhu, an agent of the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and his partner Manish established a terror gang to target well-known Punjabi leaders in an effort to instill fear in the populace and extort money for the BKI.

It said that Ameen, whom Manish had later enlisted, was the one who had thrown the grenade at the former minister’s residence. According to the investigation agency, Jangra supplied the money, and Sidhu gave Ameen the grenade.

Following the incident, Sidhu distributed a poster asserting that he and Manish were responsible for creating the plot. In addition to the Rs 10 lakh reward for his capture, Sidhu has been the subject of a Red Corner Notice.

Sidhu was previously charged by the NIA in connection with the April 2024 planned murder of Vikas Prabhakar, a leader of the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) in Punjab.

According to the statement, the anti-terror agency has stepped up its efforts to find and apprehend the fugitives and locate additional BKI members present in India.
