Renowned Bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghumman Dies at 42 After Heart Attack

He died during medical treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar. Varinder Singh Ghumman was a Jalandhar-based body builder, owned a gym at Model Town. 

Varinder Singh Ghumman, renowned Punjabi Bodybuilder passed away this evening (October 9, 2025) in Amritsar at the age of 42. He died of a heart attack. 

He died during medical treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar. Varinder Singh Ghumman was a Jalandhar-based body builder, owned a gym at Model Town. 

Harminder Dullowal who is also Jalandhar based body builder said that Ghumman had a muscle rupture in the chest and went to Amritsar for treatment.

There were recent discussions that Varinder Singh Ghumman will contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly Elections. As per the speculations and rumours, he was in the way to enter into politics.

Ghumman popularly was also known as a ‘Vegetarian Bodybuilder’ and was the only bodybuilder in the world who achieved massive success in bodybuilding while staying vegetarian.

He reportedly was the first Indian bodybuilder to represent the country at an International level and was referred  to as the “Man of India.”

Ghumman notably had won the title of Mr India in 2009. Also, stood second in Mr Asia contest. Not only this, in 2012, he also made debut in the Punjabi Film Industry with the movie “Kabaddi Once Again.”
