After DIG Harcharan Singh has been announced suspended, is under legal custody after being named in corruption case, Nanak Singh has been appointed as new DIG (Deputy Inspector General) of Ropar Range.
Nanak Singh reportedly is 2011 batch IPS Officer of the Punjab Cadre. He had been placed as DIG Border Range of Amritsar, has now been transferred to DIG Rupnagar Range.
Notably, there has as well been another transfer announcement that is of IPS Sandeep Goyal. He had been working as AIG AGTF, Punjab Ludhiana. As per new announcement, he will look after the work of DIG Border Range, Amritsar.
DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s Arrest
Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar was suspended after being booked under corruption case. Punjab State Government suspended him a few days back on October 16, 2025.
The suspension was announced following DIG Bhullar’s arrest in Rs 8 Lakh Bribery case. The case came ahead after a scrap dealer from Fatehgarh Sahib accused IPS of demanding monthly payment for settling a 2023 FIR against him.
Not only this, while the DIG’s house got hit with the raid, Rs 5 crore in cash, luxury vehicles and huge quantity of Gold was recovered.
Thai has sparked outrage at a huge level which is not just among the public. The case as well has fueled political chaos across Punjab where the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) which is ruling party of Punjab is being targeted for its poor governance
