Bollywood actor Satish Shah, known for his roles in films like “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron” and “Main Hoon Na” as well as “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,” has passed away.

Bollywood actor Satish Shah, known for his roles in films like “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron” and “Main Hoon Na” as well as the sitcom “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,” has passed away. He was 74 years old.
The always friendly Shah died at his home in Bandra East in the afternoon, Ramesh Kadatala, his loyal aide and personal assistant for more than 30 years, informed PTI.
A close friend and associate mentioned that Shah passed away from kidney-related complications.
“He underwent a kidney transplant three months prior.” “The family hurried him to Hinduja hospital in the morning, where he was pronounced dead,” the individual said to PTI on the condition of anonymity.
Born on June 25, 1951, Shah became a significant personality in Indian film and television. His career lasted multiple decades, during which he gained recognition for his comedic timing in films like “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro”, “Maalamaal”, “Hero Hiralal”, “Main Hoon Na” and “Kal Ho Naa Ho”.
He was married to designer Madhu Shah.
He is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and started with small roles in movies like “Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan” (1978) and “Gaman” (1979).
Shah had a minor but crucial role in Muzaffar Ali’s “Umrao Jaan” (1981) as Dilawar, the person who sells Rekha’s Amiran to courtesans in Lucknow.
He gained widespread recognition after starring in director Kundan Shah’s 1983 cult classic “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro”, portraying the character of the corrupt municipal commissioner D’Mello.
The movie, a comedic satire about corruption, featured Shah alongside famous actors such as Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, and Pankaj Kapur. Although his character primarily functioned as a corpse, it became one of the most memorable elements of the movie.
His motionless character, pulled through frenzied episodes featuring the now-iconic Mahabharata play segment, emerged as a representation of the film’s ridiculous comedy.
