Trump again emphasized his assertion of having stepped in earlier this year to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan.

US President Donald Trump, speaking to business leaders during an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) luncheon in South Korea on Wednesday, extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as the “nicest looking guy” and “tough as hell.”
Trump again emphasized his assertion of having stepped in earlier this year to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan.
Reflecting on events from May, Trump stated he had “employed trade pressure” to aid in averting a possible clash between the two nuclear-capable countries. “Two nuclear nations were prepared for combat.” They asked me to allow them, but I refused.
Prime Minister Modi is the most handsome man. He’s a murderer, hard as nails. “Eventually, they called back and stated they would cease fighting,” Trump informed the audience.
The US President suggested a forthcoming trade agreement with India, stating, “I’m going to do a trade deal with India,” highlighting his close relationships with both New Delhi and Islamabad. “I hold immense admiration and respect for Prime Minister Modi.”
Similarly, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is an admirable individual, and his Field Marshal is an exceptional warrior,” he remarked.
Trump also asserted that he had notified both countries that the US would refrain from engaging in trade talks while they were in dispute. “I contacted Prime Minister Modi and stated that we cannot progress with a trade agreement while you are in conflict with Pakistan.”
“Subsequently, I conveyed the same message to Pakistan,” Trump remarked.
