Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Vote Chori’ in Haryana, Calls It a Threat to Democracy

Gandhi stated that his claims were backed by confirmed data, emphasizing that he was interrogating “not only the Election Commission but the whole democratic system.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his stance and reaffirmed his claims regarding the ‘vote chori’ accusation against the BJP and Election Commission, alleging extensive voter manipulation in the 2024 Haryana assembly elections.

What he referred to as “100 per cent proof,” Gandhi asserted that 25 lakh fraudulent votes, or roughly 12 per cent of the state’s electorate, were submitted. He claimed there was “systematic manipulation” to convert a Congress win into a loss.

“Haryana has 2 crore voters, and 25 lakh of them are fake,” Gandhi said at a press conference in Delhi, adding that his team had uncovered 5.21 lakh duplicate voter entries. “One in every eight voters in Haryana is fake.”

The Congress leader presented slides emphasizing purported discrepancies in voter lists, featuring a notable instance — a Brazilian model’s image reportedly shown several times under various names like Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati, supposedly to facilitate 22 fake votes. Gandhi claimed the BJP was orchestrating a “strategically designed initiative” to weaken democracy.

“All exit surveys forecasted a Congress victory in Haryana,” he remarked. “However, for the first time ever in the state’s history, postal ballots did not match the real vote tally.” This was a component of a calculated strategy to transform a clear Congressional win into a loss.

Gandhi similarly ridiculed Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, alluding to a video from after the elections. “Simply observe the grin on his face and the ‘vyavastha’ (arrangement) he refers to,” Gandhi noted. “That occurred two days post-election, when everyone thought Congress was victorious.”

Gandhi stated that his claims were backed by confirmed data, emphasizing that he was interrogating “not only the Election Commission but the whole democratic system.” He restated his claim that the EC and the BJP were working together.

“Why hasn’t the Election Commission eliminated duplicate entries?” he inquired. “If it were the case, elections would be just.” “However, it’s evident that the EC is not in favor of that.”

“Gandhi claimed this is irrefutable evidence of the BJP’s manipulation — and of the EC’s collusion.” He also asserted that, with the backing of the election commission, the BJP was gearing up to implement the same “illegitimate government” tactic in Bihar, where elections are held tomorrow.

Union Minister Kiren Rijuju stated that Congress can contact the Election Commission if it has issues regarding voter lists in reaction to Rahul Gandhi’s claims. “If it believes the Election Commission will not be fair, it can approach the courts.” However, it lacks trust in the system and continuously blames EVMs and the Election Commission for its shortcomings.”
