Any form of weapon has been prohibited within boundaries, including a baseball, sharp object, bladed instrument, or any lethal weapon.

In a significant update, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur declared new regulations to ensure law and order in the city. CP Kaur utilized the authority granted under Section 163 of the Security Code, 2023, and has issued several statements.

Any form of weapon has been prohibited within boundaries, including a baseball, sharp object, bladed instrument, or any lethal weapon.

It is prohibited to ‘have’ these weapons inside the vehicle.

Likewise, organizing any form of procession or bearing weapons during any event/procession within the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate Police is prohibited.

Gatherings of five or more individuals and chanting slogans have also been prohibited.

Another directive from the Police Commissioner has prohibited the carrying of weapons to marriage venues, banquet facilities, weddings, and various social gatherings.

Operators of wedding venues and event halls have been mandated to set up CCTV cameras.

In line with another directive from the Police Commissioner, property owners, landlords, and PG operators are required to submit full information about tenants and domestic help to the nearest Police Saanjh Kendra (Police Facilitation Centre). Retaining tenants or employees without notifying the police will be considered a breach of this directive.

By a different directive, producers/vendors of firecrackers have been mandated to display the sound intensity (measured in decibels) on the packages of firecrackers.

By another directive from the Police Commissioner, all hotels, motels, guest houses, and inns are required to refuse accommodation to anyone lacking valid identification.

A self-attested photocopy will be maintained as a record, following the verification of the mobile number of the individual or guest staying in hotels or guesthouses. Details of guests should be recorded in a register and provided each day by 10 AM to the appropriate Station House Officer (SHO).

The SHO must verify the register each Monday, and records must be provided to the police upon request.

Whenever a foreign national has stayed at any such establishment, the management should promptly (on the same day) notify the In-charge of the Foreigners Registration Office at the office of the commissioner of police, Jalandhar.
