Nimma Loharka, a well-known Punjabi lyricist, has died at the age of 48. He wrote over 500 songs, and helped more than 150 artists to be successful. He will be cremated in his hometown. His condition had not been well for many days, according to family members.
Nimma was born on March 24, 1977 in Loharka village near Ajnala in Amritsar and his birth name was Nirmal Singh. He is the son of Darshan Singh and Dalbir Kaur, who were from a small farming family. Punjab music lovers are shocked and sad about him being dead.
Nimma survived by his son, who is also a song writer. In various interviews, he said that he had financially lost everything in the past few years. He mentioned that although he helped many artists become stars, very few helped him in the last days of his life.
As gun culture and gangster-themed music gained popularity, conventional lyrical songs such as his saw a decline in fans, a fact he bitterly lamented. He frequently conveyed his discontent that the industry “rapidly overlooks the individuals who create it.”
