Punjab Farmers to Get INR 7,200 Per Acre for De-Silting: CM Mann

While discussing the matter at the special session of Vidhan Sabha, CM mentioned that under this scheme, the farmers are allowed to sell the sand and slit after accumulating from their field in case they wish to.

There has come a significant development in the case of de-silting of sand from the fields. Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced to provide INR 7200 per acre for such purpose to the farmers.

Such an announcement has been made under the “Jisda Khet, Ohsi Ret” Scheme. While discussing the matter at the special session of Vidhan Sabha, CM mentioned that under this scheme, the farmers are allowed to sell the sand and slit after accumulating from their field in case they wish to.

Notably, as per the recent announcements, the crop loss compensation amount has been increased. In simple terms, it has surged as per the field size. The details are as follows-

  • In case of the loss of 26 to 33% crop loss, the compensation has been raised from INR 2000 TO INR 10,000 per hectare.
  • In the matter of 33 to 75% crop loss, the amount has been raised from INR 6800 to INR 10,000 per hectare.
  • While, in case, the loss is of 75 to 100%, the amount has been raised from INR 6800 to INR 20,000

The damage compensation has been announced as per the loss type. The authorities have stated that in case the lands have been eroded from the rivers, the compensation provided to the owner will be INR 47,500 hectares (INR 18,800 per hectare).

In the case of house damages, 

  • The compensation provided in the case of fully damaged house will be INR 1.2 Lakh
  • For Partially damaged houses, it will be INR 35,100

The authorities notably have stated that a special girdwari survey is being conducted to record the losses.

Significantly, the amount of INR 4.5 Crore has already been released for the waterlogged areas and the Chief Minister also had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to seek more support.
