UK Visa Fraud Allegations Spark Roadblock Protest near Jalandhar Bus Stand

According to the family, a travel agent near the bus stand had promised them a UK visa for their daughter which they never received.

The road was briefly obstructed due to a protest organized by a family blocking the road which was the main cause of the traffic issue in the area. The family members were engaged in the protest against a travel agency situated close to Jalandhar Bus Stand. The family claimed that the agency had cheated them out of Rs 6.5 lakh.

According to the family, a travel agent near the bus stand had promised them a UK visa for their daughter which they never received. The family supposedly paid the travel agency Rs 6.5 lakh.

In fact, the travel agency had supposedly asked for 9 lakhs Rs for the flight of their daughter to the UK. Rather, the family had handed over Rs 6.5 lakh. Even after a year, not only their daughter has gone abroad but the money has also not been returned to them.

One year back, the victim’s mother had informed that Rs 6.5 lakh had been given to the immigration officials as charges for the UK trip. The payment was made part of the amount through a bank account and part through a check.

The family states that the immigration officers have suddenly said their daughter’s visa is no longer approved and they are not giving back the money they are owed. This infuriated the family, hence they marched through the streets protesting.

As the traffic jam began to build, some police officials arrived at the scene and opened the road again. The case is still being investigated. The police are holding discussions with the immigration personnel on this matter.
