A medical shop proprietor was shot and killed, today morning in Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur. The event occurred when the owner of Bedi Medical store and a Dera Baba Nanak resident, was opening his shop like he usually does at around 8 AM today.
The victim has been identified as Ranbir Singh Bedi.
Out of nowhere, several unidentified attackers began shooting at Ranbir Singh Bedi. In the course of this gunfire, Bedi suffered a head wound and was severely hurt. He was en route to Amritsar for treatment; however, reports indicate that he passed away from his injuries along the way.
The Dera Baba Nanak police have commenced an investigation into the issue, and more information is pending.
According to the available information, the police stated that no determination has been made concerning the threat call aspect. An FIR was filed in 2024, but police affirm that no recent cases have emerged to date. The police also verify that a minimum of four shots were discharged during the event and additional investigation is in progress.
