The state government allegedly owes Rs 45,000 to each woman, she stated, emphasizing that women feel “betrayed,” and the government has engaged in a “deception.”

Punjab Mahila Morcha on Saturday (Nov. 22, 2025) held a protest against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Government over the promise of providing Rs 1000 each month to Punjab’s women.
Jai Inder Kaur who is Morcha President headed the protest. A group of women along with Morcha President forced their way through police barricades at the Chief Minister Maan’s Camp Office.
As per the reports, Chandigarh Police detained them and halted the protest. To control the situation, a large number of police personnel were stationed outside the Punjab BJP Office.
While at the protest, Kaur spoke to the gathering and said that before the 2022 Assembly elections, AAP had promised to give every woman Rs 1000. She claimed that no woman in the state has received what was promised, even though the Aam Aadmi Party is close to finishing four years in power.
The state government allegedly owes Rs 45,000 to each woman, she stated, emphasizing that women feel “betrayed,” and the government has engaged in a “deception.”
Criticizing the Bhagwant Mann administration for law and order issues in the state, Kaur also claimed that with theft incidents occurring “daily,” women did not feel secure.
The women who are protesting stated that the AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal, promised this during a rally in Moga in November 2021, and the government must fulfill that promise.
They were carrying signs that read “kado milange har mahila nu” (when will every woman receive it) and “jhoothian guarantees di sarkar” (the government of false promises)
While the protesters were stopped heading towards the camp office, they sat at the place and shouted slogans against the state government. Thereafter the police took them in the bus and detained them.
