The matter came into notice, gained much public attention after Krishan Dev Bhandari, known as KD Bhandari, shared a facebook post.

“Police did not take any action after 2 girls of 6th class living in Jalandhar North constituency were kidnapped by 2 boys a few days ago. The girls went to Police Station No. 1 and asked the police to take action as soon as possible,” read the Facebook Post.

With such a post shared, Politician Bhandari has extended an appeal for the safety of children to be prioritized, especially in the cases where minors are involved.

An Incident in Detail

A case of alleged kidnapping and 2 students studying in the same school from North constituency has come to light. The girls’ family alleges two Muslim men took their daughters with them.

The families have alleged that two men had been following and troubling the girls for several days. They claim that they had noted the bike number and mobile numbers of the two men and had already reported this information to Police Station No. 1 on the same day, November 20. However, they allege that no action was taken despite the seriousness of the matter.

Bhandari on Saturday visited Police Station No. 1 himself and also spoke to Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur over the phone to inform her about the situation. He stated that both girls are residents of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony and Dada Colony, respectively, and had been studying together in Class 6.

According to Bhandari, the girls’ families fear that the men who had been following their daughters might harm them. He also highlighted that the complaint filed on November 20 with details like the bike number and mobile numbers was allegedly not acted upon at the lower level of the police.

Meanwhile Rakesh Kumar, in-charge of police station, said that one girl lived in his police station area while the other girl was from the area of eight. The school in which they both study is in the area of which the complaint has been registered to the police.

Concerns grow as allegations of rising police negligence surface

The concerns have taken a turn into debate across the city as the rising police  negligence has become very common.

Yesterday, in Jalandhar a 13 year old girl was raped and murdered. No Doubt, the actions are being taken, however, the police negligence as well is witnessed in the case.

As per the reports, when the girl went missing, the police was informed but they failed to find the girl. And, it was the residents themselves who recovered the body from the neighbour’s house.

After such, public is slamming the police authorities and the BJP Leader Sheetal Angural also condemned the police, alleging that careless handling of the case had cost the girl her life.

Even the residents accused, claimed that timely action and a proper search could have prevented the tragedy.

AAP Government urged to act as Public Safety Concerns Intensify

The repeated instances of the delayed actions are raising serious concerns among the public, as well as reflecting the irresponsible behaviour of the AAP led Government towards their people.

Residents argue that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led authorities to ensure stricter supervision, faster police response and maintain public safety. However, it seems that the state government has failed to fulfil its responsibility.
