Two ‘smartly-dressed’ men arrived at the wedding and escaped with a bag filled with cash given as shagun and gold jewelry.

As the marriage season is still approaching its peak in Punjab and other Indian states, a troubling incident occurred recently. Two men donned formal suits and attended a wedding ceremony in Amritsar. According to reports, the two ‘smartly-dressed’ men arrived at the wedding and escaped with a bag filled with cash given as shagun and gold jewelry.
The incident is said to have occurred at Maribella Marriage Palace, situated on the Amritsar–Vallah Bypass, on Wednesday night.
Following the disappearance of the bag, the owners of the Wedding Palace examined the CCTV footage from the wedding ceremony and observed a man fleeing with the bag, while another individual was also recorded by the camera. Authorities have filed a case, obtained the CCTV recordings, and initiated an inquiry.
While reviewing the CCTV footage, neither the bride’s family nor the groom’s family recognized the two men present at the wedding. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it became evident that the two suspects had been wandering around the wedding event for about ninety minutes.
Throughout this period, they discovered the bag filled with cash, carried out a reconnaissance, and devised a plan to take the bag. According to reports, a suspect went up to the bag, situated among family members, and discreetly took it before leaving.
The family told the police in their report that the suspect took a bag filled with jewelry and shagun. The bag held three gold rings and an estimated cash amount of Rs 6-7 lakh, gathered as shagun during the wedding. The police have now taken possession of the CCTV recordings. A probe has been initiated
