Two Held After Police Foil Firing Plot Linked to Goldy Brar Gang in Nakodar

The police, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, created specialized teams guided by SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk.

The Nakodar police foiled a planned firing incident and apprehended two accused involved in an extortion and firing case linked to threats from foreign-based gang members. The complaint was made by Manish Bakshi alias Mannu, son of Ashwani Kumar. He is a resident of Nakodar city and proprietor of Bakshi Travel Company and B.B. School of IELTS for the past 16 to 17 years.

On November 11, 2025, the complainant received threatening phone calls from a mobile number based overseas. The caller alleged to be affiliated with the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godhra gang and requested an extortion payment of Rs 5 crore. A FIR was filed at the Police Station City Nakodar on November 14, 2025, under Sections 308(5) and 352(3) BNS concerning this matter.

Later, during the night of January 16 and 17, 2026, the complainant got more threatening messages from international numbers stating they had shot outside his office due to unpaid extortion fees. Ultimately, a FIR was lodged on January 1, 2026, citing Sections 308(5), 351(2), 125, 61(2), 3(5) BNS and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act at the Nakodar City Police Station.

The police, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, created specialized teams guided by SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk. The operation was overseen by DSP Onkar Singh Brar and DSP Inderjit Singh Saini, with significant involvement from Inspector CTA Pushap Bali, SI Harmider Singh, SHO of Police Station City Nakodar, and SI Dilbagh Singh, the SHO. AGTF personnel collaborated effectively and coordinated during the operation.

Based on confidential intelligence, SI Harminder Singh, SHO of the City Nakodar Police Station, along with the police team, became aware that the suspects in the Bakshi firing case were preparing to execute another shooting incident. The police quickly responded to the information and set up an ambush and naka-bandi on the connecting road from Bir Village Phatak on the Nurmahal road towards Sarkapur village.

At the checkpoint, two suspects on a motorcycle were ordered to halt; instead of complying, they shot at the police. The police responded in a controlled way in self-defense.

The defendant Ankit Kumar suffered a gunshot wound, while the other defendant Harinder Gupta experienced a leg fracture injury. Both accused individuals were successfully subdued and apprehended, then promptly transported to a hospital for medical care under police oversight. The police found one .30 caliber hand gun along with three live rounds. An inquiry into the situation is currently in progress, and stringent legal measures will follow.
