Bondi Beach Shooter Identified as Hyderabad Native Who Moved to Australia 27 Years Ago

All police records from India indicate that prior to his leaving India, Sajid possessed no history of being involved in criminal or extremist activities of any kind.

Indian officials have verified that Sajid Akram, the 50-year-old implicated in the fatal shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia, hailed from Hyderabad and moved to Australia almost thirty years ago. The Telangana Police on Tuesday stated that Akram departed India approximately 27 years ago and had limited interaction with his family after moving overseas.

The assault occurred at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach on Sunday, when Sajid Akram and his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, purportedly fired rifles, resulting in 15 fatalities instantly

The Australian police killed Sajid in the same encounter with him that resulted in the death of 15 other people, raising the death toll to 16. Naveed is hospitalised and is expected to recover from severe injuries, but is still being monitored by police.

General Anthony Albanese has condemned this incident, calling it a targeted attack against Jewish Australians and an attack of terror and anti-Semitism against the Australian people and calling it a tragedy that has shaken the country.

According to the Telangana police, initial investigations indicate that both Sajid Akram and Sajid’s son have been radicalised. All police records from India indicate that prior to his leaving India, Sajid possessed no history of being involved in criminal or extremist activities of any kind.

The Indian Police Department has said that they will cooperate with the Australian Federal Police completely, as far as co-operating with the Australian Federal Police.

Also, the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines has confirmed that Sajid Akram travelled to the Philippines in November 2013 to visit family with his son. The Philippines Bureau of Immigration confirmed that both Sajid and Naveed entered the country from Sydney, had registered in Davao and returned to Australia within the same month.

This shooting incident at Bondi Beach is being labelled as one of the most deadly terror-related incidents in Australia in recent times.
